NSS Day Celebration 24.09.2020
V.V. Sangha's Veerashaiva College celebrated National Service Scheme (NSS) day on 24-Sept-2020 in a different way. Number of students, teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the programme. The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969.
The function of NSS day is inaugurated by Dr.G.Rajashekar, Principal of Veerashaiva College, Ballari. In his inaugural speech, he addressed and emphasized about the role of NSS in the college campus and outside the campus. Further, he said the student’s involvement is truly appreciable and NSS is a commitment and not just an event.
Points highlighted by the principal to students:
- To enable the students to understand the community in which they work.
- To understand themselves in relation to their community.
- To identify the needs and problems in the community in the solution of which they can be involved.
- To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- To apply education- find practical solution to individual & community problems.
- To develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities.
- Gain skills in mobilising community participation.
- To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
- To develop capacity to meet emergencies and national disasters
- To practice national integration.
He also added that since many years our Veerashaiva College has conducted various activities in our college and outside the college, such as cleaning the campus, Sadbhavana divasa, Environmental cleanness, Cultural events, Conducting competitions , NSS special camp at different villages, Animal health camp and Blood donation camp. He delivered motivational talk to the young and dynamic student community. Sri. Sharana Kumar NSS programme officer executed the programme.
