Celebration of World Environment Day

World environment day is organized by IQAC on 05.06.2020. Sri Sharanappa, Deputy Secretary Zilla Panchayath, Ballari inaugurated the programme by watering              to plant. He delivered the inaugural speech in which he emphisised that though man is aware of his dependency on nature his haphazard attempts to exploit natural resources posed a severe threat to normal life. Rate of pollution has reached highest peak due to the rapid modernaization and changed principles of development. Pollution has reduced expected age of man by two years in the recent days. Out of eight deaths, one death is caused by air pollution. He cautioned that if negligence towards the preservation of nature continued in the same existing manner, the next generation would face untold miseries. The chief guest of the programme Sri Kiran, Divisional Forest Officer, Ballari spoke on this occasion. He said, the forest which constitutes 30% of the total land area providing foods, medicians and fuel wood to mankind for the past thousands of years. But it is unfortunate that the forest area has been steadily decreasing as urbanaization and mining are taking place at a very high speed from 1960s onwards. According to a servey report, annual rate of deforestation has reached 1.3 million km2 .Deforestatation has adversely affected eco system, bio diversity and climate. Dr shashikantha Majjage, Assistant Professor, Dept of Zoology VSK University, Ballari, delivered a special talk on the theme of world environment day. He stated that man’s indifferent reaction to the routine changes of nature created series of catastrophes. It is a time for every one to change is attitude towards the nature. Man has to adopt himself to the changes of nature. Otherwise, he will face still severe problems. On this occasion, saplings are planted in the premises of the college. Sri W Sharanappa delivered welcome speech. Dr D Nagesh Sastry proposed vote of thanks. Smt Rajashree patil presented invocation song. Dr V Sreenivas executed the programme.
