“International Women’s Day – 2019” on 08/03/2019

Ms. Nandini K R, Probationary I A S Officer inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. In her inaugural speech, she spoke about miserable and pitiable conditions of Women in India. All the countries including India consist of 50% of Women in their total population. However, Women are kept aware from most of the productive activities in the name of traditional beliefs. This ill practice hindered the growth and development of our economy. She also emphasized about atrocities and violence committed against women in the name of gender system. Gender inequality can be seen from womb to tomb. Problems like fetus killing, female infanticide, immoral traffic of women, sexual abuse of women etc., have continued even in modern civilized societies. Rights of women are given much importance in the present days. Now, women have come out from their houses and started to work in different fields. They have made remarkable achievements on par with men in their working areas. However, exploitation of women still continued in organized and unorganized sectors. Patriarchal values must be removed completely from our society. The modern man should change his attitude towards women. She asked the girl students to put sincere efforts in studies and take active part in all the activities of society. Dr.G.Rajashekhar, Principal, delivered a presidential speech. The exploitation of women would not stop unless we change the social and cultural bonds. Smt.Megha.A.S., Branch Manager, P.K.G.Bank was invited as a Guest of Honour. Both the guests were honoured with memento and shawls by the College authority. Ms.Shirley Jones welcomed the guests. Smt.Mala R introduced the Chief Guest. Dr.Gouramma proposed vote of thanks. Kum.Nirupama sang prayer song.   On this occasion Fancy Dress Competition was held and the Winners were honoured with suitable prizes.
